A day without quilting is a day lost forever.Johttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05585533903719112541noreply@blogger.comBlogger204125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33061289.post-77187208157045563402017-02-07T03:37:00.001-08:002017-02-07T03:37:34.262-08:00Hello, I am still alive. Life through a curve last fall and has been hectic since. DH fell and broke hip plus some other issues popped up so I haven't been able to do much beside take care of him. So nothing new to show on the site. Maybe soon can actually find out if I remember how to use the sewing machine. But do not totally give up on me. I'm hoping spring will be better and I can sew again. Isn't this a great quilt. My friend Marie made it. When she first finished the top the center made a mountain. Ok ok so it popped up a bit, then she redid the center and completed the quilt. It won ribbons at the local quilt show and at the state fair quilt show. So congratulations to a proud friend.<br />
I've considered doing this quilt, but kind of put it on delay as it would take real concentration to keep all the pieces in place. <br />
a busy week of Dr appointments for DH and garden produce needed attention. The only quilting I accomplished this week was to work on a small wall quilt. Wish me luck on this. <br />
Now the Olympics are on and I do enjoy watching the gymnastics and the swimming. Occasionally some of the other things, but those are my favorites. <br />

Kit baby quilt. I bought this kit at a garage sale. The blocks were mostly embroidered, but I had to finish most of the french knots and two of the blocks. Someone was selling their excess fabric and kits that were started and not completed. Still have a couple to go. Ended up being a fun project. I probably would not have purchased the kit but when most of the stitching was already finished could not resist. Mosquito's are out in full force but DS came over and sprayed the foliage with some mosquito stuff. Now I can at least go out on the porch and not be in fear of being carried away. <br />
Had to do a trip to store in all the heat. But ice in the cooler kept perishables from cooking on the way home.<br />

This is the picture DS brought me from Hawaii. Had to really chuckle as he said he was looking at Hawaiian wall quilts, but decided not to get one as the stitching would not have been good. Evidently the quilting was pretty large stitches and he thought I could make one nicer. Bless his heart he does pay attention to the quilting. grin<br />

Hopefully tonight will not bring a storm as there are warnings in the area. We do need rain but do not need storm. Last storm we had tree on our garage. Stay cool everyone. Walked outdoors this morning and it felt like opening an oven. So guess I will stay in and sew. Will share a couple more of my projects and hope they are enjoyed. <br />

This technique was "interesting" you sew small tucks across to make the picture look like its rippled. Probably will not do this again. <br />

Another hot hot day here. Here is a little owl using hexagons. Saw a picture of this and sat down to figure out how to make it. Its ok. makes me want to play with hexagons again. <br />
The second is a small zentangle using lots of color pens to decorate the drawings. What fun this is.<br />

Surprise its cooler today. Cloudy but oh my how humid. Mosquito's are loving it!! Walk outdoors and they try to save a person for lunch. <br />
The first quilt is my P.I.G.S. project. Our club has a challenge each year. Take a project that you have started and have in a box or bag. Show it and present a fat quarter to enter. Then complete the project before the next July meeting and get a chance to win the fat quarters. BUT if you do not complete the project you are fined 3 fat quarters. This year I was the lucky person and won 20 fat quarters. Oh what fun. Usually I would be donating 3 fat quarters. grin. <br />
The second quilt is a butterfly I painted in a class in Des Moinse a couple years ago. It was last<br />
years P.I.G.S. project. Cost me 3 fat quarters as I didn't finish it on time. Oh well. <br />
Hope to keep up with the blog a bit more this year. Have quite a few pieces to share and miss<br />
showing them. Johttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05585533903719112541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33061289.post-65441283438716154672016-07-18T17:16:00.002-07:002016-07-18T17:16:47.019-07:00<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

the butterfly is a small quilt made from a class I took last summer. Its stitched then colored with<br />
permanent markers, then background filled with permanent markers. <br />

Will try again later.Johttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05585533903719112541noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33061289.post-66986150246958016302009-06-13T14:44:00.000-07:002009-06-13T14:53:25.643-07:00finally something to show<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1qAmBl9YRRSypJCSsd2NZ8NQhbTdJJ5fti2W3ruhJqaK_TgowZBT8ZDV5BE5GG32dgJZVt9qnehjLpQv7jImjakldw0rBp2bvpBzb0RrAUyXORtC-zkUevgOOWMNa-qZeNoNG/s1600-h/circles+010.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 158px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1qAmBl9YRRSypJCSsd2NZ8NQhbTdJJ5fti2W3ruhJqaK_TgowZBT8ZDV5BE5GG32dgJZVt9qnehjLpQv7jImjakldw0rBp2bvpBzb0RrAUyXORtC-zkUevgOOWMNa-qZeNoNG/s320/circles+010.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346932726131619378" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTY_iuw1iOoV5MS_V7UM4u9q92TRlm367XA5R9zQq8fTTQg-nV1WLvCjsB5u3YKRwt4-P8kqrpbLGTR6-D4GsDQpfteCI_cqUfTSroQGfYXY8d3ccpBHcwZGvak08Wjy1_1K93/s1600-h/circles+006.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 314px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTY_iuw1iOoV5MS_V7UM4u9q92TRlm367XA5R9zQq8fTTQg-nV1WLvCjsB5u3YKRwt4-P8kqrpbLGTR6-D4GsDQpfteCI_cqUfTSroQGfYXY8d3ccpBHcwZGvak08Wjy1_1K93/s320/circles+006.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346932725092174594" border="0" /></a>The table runner is a combination of log cabin type blocks. Fun to do but kind of a no brainer.<br />The remaining small pieces are experiments with circles and squares and re cutting units after a block is made. <br />This was lots of fun and I can see many possibilities for this technique. <br />Enjoy--<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK-2iL10MljL63T7-Bh9igz-KC0NBhYppgNyOEgvjpO8vyy5PoFvLr4OgZ-HW3l9zZ6rwQn_QHkL6SnVLcb4eS6zdVjq3Mq_JnWBm60oDxvc5g7A17kqB-vBpccqKzdiFMrjVF/s1600-h/circles+009.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 318px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK-2iL10MljL63T7-Bh9igz-KC0NBhYppgNyOEgvjpO8vyy5PoFvLr4OgZ-HW3l9zZ6rwQn_QHkL6SnVLcb4eS6zdVjq3Mq_JnWBm60oDxvc5g7A17kqB-vBpccqKzdiFMrjVF/s320/circles+009.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346932718779590210" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSXo9dZfxP7xI4lxLYmf6wFqNSsHGR6uf9I7L_DJ9xsXlnPfxtjLiDsYG9xr9f8SUxQH7SFyWaoZLMSY_8bD82PAl2eeM3ftDF06DIbjV0DoUjKReQQ0yAd-q17d_4pn8QvpRO/s1600-h/circles+003.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 298px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSXo9dZfxP7xI4lxLYmf6wFqNSsHGR6uf9I7L_DJ9xsXlnPfxtjLiDsYG9xr9f8SUxQH7SFyWaoZLMSY_8bD82PAl2eeM3ftDF06DIbjV0DoUjKReQQ0yAd-q17d_4pn8QvpRO/s320/circles+003.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346932715708650002" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcoLGu_liIn-PPrs-duIXZUKStSgYpDu7knVrdh1qOuyMJxFG0IOAmztTJRx9jorHgKyHi9O1L3OuDL6nUYVL764PUfepTk0guVS659tCqE-k0tnYQNvZW4GSJJ_NMlm6UFk6o/s1600-h/circles+002.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 299px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcoLGu_liIn-PPrs-duIXZUKStSgYpDu7knVrdh1qOuyMJxFG0IOAmztTJRx9jorHgKyHi9O1L3OuDL6nUYVL764PUfepTk0guVS659tCqE-k0tnYQNvZW4GSJJ_NMlm6UFk6o/s320/circles+002.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346932709636555842" border="0" /></a>Johttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05585533903719112541noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33061289.post-48669278347230743862009-05-04T10:47:00.001-07:002009-05-04T10:58:56.406-07:00top done<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrFMVtqAq4Qf5mK-Y-IKeUyzy_VcbFRsFKaGVQIxUeMuNZJOBA4WUXOJoekRsF5oY06KTlHAFJUo8TaBY7SkRWI8Q2OjYZhREEAIrjDvV8UQdnJRIENh4Tj1jcKsaAi6Hoa_mv/s1600-h/9+patch+005.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 206px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrFMVtqAq4Qf5mK-Y-IKeUyzy_VcbFRsFKaGVQIxUeMuNZJOBA4WUXOJoekRsF5oY06KTlHAFJUo8TaBY7SkRWI8Q2OjYZhREEAIrjDvV8UQdnJRIENh4Tj1jcKsaAi6Hoa_mv/s320/9+patch+005.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5332027557307705922" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiRlHSWs75qL2D_c2pClpr2mkjb_TTLOUtIzE6QGNzl6z6hJ39iv-dLQgmg-AD8l7qSKNBLzU_4G7-ZmgHYKbeJPDXs_gtIXEzrhfwnn3dtdRmewXY1SLjRgJ6sHos7Q4_QLZ1/s1600-h/9+patch+004.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 237px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiRlHSWs75qL2D_c2pClpr2mkjb_TTLOUtIzE6QGNzl6z6hJ39iv-dLQgmg-AD8l7qSKNBLzU_4G7-ZmgHYKbeJPDXs_gtIXEzrhfwnn3dtdRmewXY1SLjRgJ6sHos7Q4_QLZ1/s320/9+patch+004.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5332027560508823842" border="0" /></a>Yea, the top is done. I used a cut and slice 9 patch block to start this. I stacked 12" squares. Cut the squares into 3 equal divisions. (4") in both directions. (9 squares) then using alternating squares formed 2- 9 patch blocks, one with lights for 5 squares and one with dark for 5 squares, opposite 4 dark squares with the lights and 4 light squares with the dark. Sewed the 9 patches together. Then cut to the right and the left of the center square at 2". (full length of the block) moved those strips aside then cut 2" from the center square to the top and bottom, next mixed up the pieces and re-assembled blocks by sewing to top and bottom first then to sides. Next squared blocks up. for this one added a 1 and 1/2" strip between blocks. try this its like eating "chocolate". Have a great day. sun is shining and I need to go out and plant tomato plants. Lovely fresh BLT's in a couple months.Johttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05585533903719112541noreply@blogger.com1
